Dr. Steve Marsden
Dr. Steve Marsden, together with his wife, Dr. Karen Marsden, is founder of the Natural Path Clinic Southside. They started the clinic in June 2001, and were immediately the focus of extensive media attention due to their expertise in both human and animal holistic medicine.
In addition to being one of Edmonton’s most well-known acupuncturists and naturopathic physicians, Dr. Steve Marsden is one of the chief educators of veterinarians worldwide in the use of complementary and alternative therapies. He received one of the first Master’s of Science degrees in Oriental Medicine ever to be awarded in North America, as well as board certifications in Chinese herbology, acupuncture and naturopathic medicine.
He has been a key-note speaker for conferences, courses, colleges, and associations spanning five continents, and is co-founder of the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies, an Australia-based institution offering distance learning programs in integrative medicine. He is also a director of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, a fully accredited and leading educational institution in the United States offering comprehensive training in a diversity of alternative therapies for physicians. His textbook on natural veterinary medicine, published by Elsevier, has been translated into multiple languages, and is a leading resource worldwide.
In 2009, Dr. Steve Marsden was voted by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association as their veterinarian of the year. As a naturopathic physician, he has also received several awards acknowledging his contribution to the field. He was appointed by the federal government as one of its advisors in determining the safe practice of veterinary herbal medicine in Canada, and is co-founder with Dr. Karen Marsden of the Natural Path Herb Company, a leading supplier of safe, effective, and high quality herbal preparations to practitioners in Canada, the United States, SE Asia and Australia.
Cecil Horwitz
Cecil Horwitz graduated with honors from Grant Macewan University School of acupuncture. Since becoming a registered acupuncturist, he has continued his herbal studies under the mentorship of Dr. Steve Marsden , focusing on western and Chinese herbal medicine. He is currently completing formal studies to become a certified clinical herbalist.
While practicing Chinese Medicine it soon became evident that there was a need for women to have a natural treatment option for pregnancy related issues. To this end he began to specialize in women’s health. This specialty includes issues related to the menstrual cycle, fertility, conception to labour, as well as post partum.
Cecil stays current with the most up to date advancements in research and literature. He is known for his relaxed manner and ever-expanding knowledge base and focuses on the individual patients health needs. His goal is to work with each patient to achieve maximum success by supporting their efforts to be proactive in their own health.
Quinne Chouinard
As an integral part of our holistic health team for over 5 years, Quinne Chouinard has been instrumental in the development of our massage therapy program. Since graduating, 3 years ago as a Massage Therapist (RMT), from MH Vicars School of Massage, Quinne has been dedicated to improving the health and well being of our clients with effective massage treatments. Along with massage, Quinne’s Reiki Level 2 training lends to her unique approach to massage treatments. Her compassionate approach allows her to provide exceptional treatments in a relaxed and comfortable environment. With experience in treating injuries, stress, pain and related imbalances, you can be assured you will leave your appointment feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
